Yoga: Moving Through Grief Toward Wholeness
Grief is not an illness. It is a natural, normal human response that comes up during times of loss. Grief cannot be healed and does not need to be healed because it is a deep form of love. Yoga helps release and relieve the symptoms that may accompany grief such as physical pain, painful thought patterns, insomnia, and bring you toward an inner awareness of how to quiet powerful emotions. Mindfulness in meditation and the movements of yoga have been proven to assist in finding a new wholeness and way of being with deep loss.
We will explore 4 of the 6 paths of yoga as we move through grief toward wholeness. Hatha yoga (movement/postures), Bhakti Yoga (devotion), Karma YOga (skill in action), Jnana Yoga (inner knowledge & insight).
Featuring Restorative Yoga & Nidra
Our practice of Hatha Yoga will include various yoga postures and styles such as Yin, restorative, and gentle flow that are gentle enouch for beginners. Yoga teaches us to observe inner sensations, use mindfulness techniques to bring about a sense of present moment awareness and calm. Plus we will use pranayama (breathing) practices and guided meditation including Yoga Nida to reduce stress.
Yoga & Grief Support
"Loss and grief is a part of life; the kindred partner to abundance and joy. Still, profound loss takes our breath away every time and, sometimes, feeling our pain keeps us stuck in time". (more about Lauren)
