For a long time I had a Dream to open a yoga studio and share the beauty of yoga. Much to my surprise by dream came true in 2005 when I envisioned Dragonfly Yoga in Penn Valley and students showed up! I was blessed to meet the most incredible community members with an interest in exploring this ancient tradition.
It has been an honor to guide classes at Dragonfly Yoga & Wellness for nearly twelve years! I am so thankful for the amazing teachers who over the years brought their love and skill to Dragonfly Studio. Deepest gratitude for Julie Franklin & Diane Brown who shared the dream with all their heart.
Thank you to all the artists who brought their work to the walls of Dragonfly studio. I am forever thankful for the love and support of my husband and family throughout the years. Special thanks to the musicians, all the healing practitioners, community educators, dancers, meditation teachers, guest instructors and special guests who brought their powerful work into the space. The accumulation of all of these healing and creative energies infused Dragonfly Yoga with an energy that was all embracing and healing. The gratitude I have for this magical creation is immeasurable, but I felt a transition coming - calling me to change direction and it was a powerful force from deep within. My other passion was growing: End-of-Life and After-death Care. I am Founding Director of Full Circle of Living and Dying. So I made the extremely difficult decision to close the doors to Dragonfly Yoga Studio, and focus on death care and advocate for the right to know your options. I continued to teach in other studios in the Grass Valley area.
The spirit of Dragonfly is still alive in all of my work. I began sharing Yoga classes on zoom format in 2020. Currently, as of January 2023, I now broadcast Monday Morning Mindful Yoga classes from my new location in Chico, California. Feel free to contact me. Peace and Light. Above all listen to the soul and follow its direction. Love, love, love ---Akhila.
