Reiki has been described as universal life force energy healing. After receiving levels one and two Reiki attunements from Reiki Master Sushila Mertens, and Reiki Master attunement from Marcy Pendergast, I personally felt the energetic possibilities, beauty, and transformational power of Reiki. This was a uniquely profound experience for me, which brought about great spiritual growth. Once attuned to this field of energy, the Reiki practitioner acts as a transmitter of energy, offering the client or patient an experience of deep relaxation, reduction of pain and inflammation, new vitality, and profound healing. This healing occurs when the body, mind and soul is ready to receive the transformational effects in the form it is intended. I have been practicing Reiki for several years and have found working with dying patients brings them a sense of calm, ability to relax and allows them to find or re-connect with their own personal spirituality on a deeper level. Every person's experience is unique, and I serve as simply a channel for the energy to pass through to the receptive client. In a typical Reiki session the client is fully clothed and rests prone and/or supine on a massage table. For hospital patients this can be done in a bed or reclined wheelchair. (Reiki also works well with the client sitting in a chair). Many sessions begin with a brief meditation allowing the client to begin quieting the mind and relaxing the body. I use 12-15 hand positions on the body based on need, and the hands may touch or hover over the body depending on request. Each session can last from 45-60 minutes. Your time with him brought him a great deal of relief and I was happy knowing that he was in such good hands." Love you, Christina
